Manufacturing Process Assessment

Bent River Machine provides a Manufacturing Process Assessment. The intent of the assessment is to evaluate a specific manufacturing process, or manufacturing of a product, or the all manufacturing operations to identify improvements in quality and/or productivity. The process is comprised of three different phases and produces four specific deliverables.

  1. Assessment and Exploration
  2. Develop and Analyze
  3. Results

Upon completion of the assessment the four deliverables are:

  1. Three year manufacturing equipment and process plan
  2. Estimated ROI on equipment enhancements
  3. Future state value stream map
  4. Future state KPIs and expected performance.

The benefit of the Manufacturing Process Assessment is a long-term strategy focused on implementing manufacturing technology to give a competitive advantage in meeting customer demand. Additional benefits include reduced cost of NRE (non-recurring engineering) by standardizing equipment, reduced maintenance costs by standing components, compatible with future upgrades to SCADA/MES/ERP. All of which leads to higher margins and faster Return on Investment in the future state.

Manufacturability Assessment

Through Bent River Machine’s automation experience , they have developed a Manufacturability Assessment aimed at identifying Mechanical and Electrical design enhancements that can significantly improve manufacturability and product quality without compromising functionality. By including the Manufacturability Assessment as a part of the product lifecycle process, clients can avoid costly re-designs when products move from prototypes to manufacturing. The deliverables are focused on assessing a product through a series of questions that have been developed from experience building manufacturing equipment and industry DFMA (design for manufacturing, assembly) standards. The scope of the assessment is dependent on the complexity of the product; however, the deliverables remain consistent: prioritized design changes and a written report of the findings. This process is broken down into three phases:

  1. Assess
  2. Idea Generation
  3. Impact Prioritization

After years of watching Customers go through costly re-designs to enhance the manufacturability of their products, Bent River decided to provide a service which helps eliminate these costly occurrences. By incorporating the Manufacturability Assessment focused on DFMA principles in the lifecycle management process, Clients can expect both quality and cost benefit when product design transfers into manufacturing.
